Actress.   In 2002 Berry became the first—and still only—Black woman to be named Best Actress at the Oscars for her leading role in Monster’s Ball. “This moment is so much bigger than me,” she said at the time. “It’s for every nameless, faceless woman of color that now has a chance because this door tonight has been opened. Thank you. I’m so honored.“
