Crews work to extinguish grass fire off Old Pond Road

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A grass fire Thursday afternoon burned several acres off Old Pond Road.

Crews with St. John’s Fire District responded to a reported grass fire around 12:17 p.m. and arrived to find a fire spanning roughly two to three acres.

Officials said the fire is under control; however, firefighters are on the scene working to fully extinguish the flames.

“Smoke will likely remain in the area into the evening,” fire officials said.

The cause and origin are under investigation.
