CPD confirm one person hospitalized in Downtown Charleston shooting Sunday night

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — The Charleston Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one injured Sunday night.

According to officials, officers were on patrol when they heard gunshots in the area of Hanover and Johnson around 6:47 p.m. When officers arrived at the intersection, they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was then transported to a local hospital by EMS, said officials.

The shooting remains under investigation.
