SLED investigating deadly house fire in Moncks Corner

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – Multiple agencies responded to a deadly house fire in the Moncks Corner area early Friday morning.

Berkeley County Dispatch confirmed the fire in the area of President Circle in Moncks Corner, near Lake Moultrie. Officials say the call came in just before 1:00 a.m.

Town of Moncks Corner Fire Chief Robert Gass said the structure fire was a fatal incident. Officials say that the victim was the only person inside the home.

Multiple agencies responded including Town of Moncks Corner Fire, Whitesville and Santee Circle Fire Departments, Moncks Corner Police, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, and SLED all assisting with this incident.

Fire crews have cleared the scene and now SLED Arson Unit and police officials remain to investigate the cause of the fatal incident.
