Heavy police presence at Burke High School due to possible hoax, CPD says

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston Police Department (CPD) is investigating a possible hoax phone call directed at Burke High School on Wednesday morning.

Inspector Michael Gillooly with the Charleston Police Department said there is a heavy police presence at the school after a call was received from another location regarding the school.

Gillooly said they believe the call to be a hoax.

“Numerous officers are on scene and the school is locked down pursuant to normal procedure,” said Inspector Gillooly.

There are currently no reports of injuries or any suspects.
