Berkeley County deputies arrest suspect after Friday chase
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A man is behind bars after leading Berkeley County deputies on a chase off I-26 Friday afternoon.
According to reports, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from an off-duty deputy about a possible stolen vehicle near North Main Street Friday evening.
Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle when the driver took off and an “intense” chase ensued.
Stop devices were deployed which flattened the suspect’s tires and the vehicle stopped behind the Flying J off I-26.
The suspect quickly left the vehicle and fled law enforcement.
Deputies and K-9s located the suspect, Walter Louis Brown, and took him into custody.
BCSO says Brown was wanted on multiple felony warrants out of several agencies.
Browns warrants include:
- Pointing and Presenting a Firearm.
- Hit and Run with Property Damage.
- Driving Under Suspension for DUI second offense.
- Traffic Offenses.
- Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
- Receiving Stolen Goods.
- Failure to Stop for Blue Lights second or subsequent.
- Driving Under Suspension.
Brown will face additional charges following the Friday night arrest.
