CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – All flights were suspended Tuesday evening at the Charleston International Airport due to what the airport described as an “ongoing incident.”
According to airport officials, flights were temporarily suspended as of 3:45 p.m.
Travelers are asked to check with their individual airlines before arriving for flights.
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a CCSO helicopter crashed near the airport. There were no serious injuries, according to one source. News 2 is working to confirm that the helicopter crash is the reason for the ground stop at the airport.
