One injured after log truck overturns near Huger

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – One person was injured after a logging truck overturned on Highway 402 Wednesday afternoon.

According to the East Berkeley Fire District, the tractor-trailer ran off of the road and overturned near South Hampton Drive just north of Huger shortly before 3:00 p.m.

One person was “heavily entrapped within the cab” of the 18-wheeler. After being freed from the wreckage, the person was flown to a nearby trauma center in stable condition.

The road was closed for hours as several agencies, including the East Berkeley Fire District, the Cainhoy Fire Department, the North Berkeley Fire Department, Berkeley County EMS, Berkeley County Emergency Management, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina Highway Patrol, State Transport Police, Elite Wrecker Service, Upright Wrecker Service, the Mount Pleasant Fire Department, the City of Charleston Fire Department, representatives from the Department of Health and Environmental Control, and representatives from the South Carolina Department of Transportation.
