Dorchester County town hall to focus on infrastructure needs
Dorchester County, S.C. (WBCD) – Community members in Dorchester County will have the chance to express their concerns on infrastructure in the upper part of the county Thursday afternoon.
This town hall is State Representative Gilda Cobb-Hunter’s second of three town halls being held to discuss the infrastructure needs.
Rep. Cobb-Hunter says the reason for this three-series town hall is to create that direct conversation between those in the community and a handful of different agencies.
Representatives from those agencies are expected at Thursday’s meeting, including the South Carolina Office of Resilience, the Department of Transportation, the Broadband Office, and South Carolina Rural Infrastructure.
Those organizing Thursday’s town hall say the goal is for folks to bring their questions and concerns on flooding, unsafe roads, internet connection, and more.
Representative Cobb-Hunters says she already understands what some of the big issues for Dorchester County could be.
“It’s been around areas of access to broadband as well as drainage flooding those kinds of issues. And so I am always interested in making sure my constituents have an opportunity to address, directly, the people who need to be aware of those conditions,” she said.
After the first town hall, Cobb-Hunter shared that there was an immediate follow-up from the agencies and that ahead of Thursday’s town hall she expects a similar response…
Thursday’s town hall begins at 6 pm at the Rosenwalk school in St. George.
