First Lady Jill Biden to headline SC educators event in Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – First Lady Jill Biden is expected to headline a South Carolina event with educators this week.

Biden will travel to Columbia on Friday in her first campaign visit to the Palmetto State this year. It also comes just days before the state’s Democratic presidential preference primary.

The First Lady, a lifelong educator and community college professor, will deliver remarks during a special South Carolina Educators for Biden-Harris event.

Her visit comes one day before President Joe Biden is slated to speak at the South Carolina Democratic Party’s First in the Nation Celebration and dinner, also being held in Columbia. That dinner will feature Congressman James Clyburn, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison, and other community leaders.

South Carolina’s Democratic primary will take place on Saturday, February 3.

Early voting is underway.
