CFD seeking answers after West Ashley Target fire

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Investigators are searching for answers following a Monday night fire incident at the Target in West Ashley.

Officials say two male juveniles between the ages of 10 and 14 were discharging Roman candle fireworks in the shopping cart area and set it ablaze. Firefighters responded around 6:45 that evening and determined the fire was on the exterior of the building and did not extend into the store.

Crews say the fire damaged 9 shopping carts and the exterior face of the building.

Investigators seek the public’s help with gathering additional photos or videos of the incident or identifying the individuals involved. They say photos or videos may help reconstruct the timeline and conditions and to email them to [email protected].
