Incident closes lanes, pedestrian path on Ravenel Bridge

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Emergency crews are responding to an incident on the Arthur Ravenel Jr., Bridge on Thursday afternoon.

The Charleston Police Department (CPD) said officers are responding to a person who is experiencing a mental health crisis.

Police say the pedestrian walkway and all northbound lanes (heading into Mount Pleasant) are closed. Southbound lanes are also backed up.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and should use an alternative route.
