Anita Huggins signs CCSD superintendent contract, source says

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Acting superintendent for the Charleston County School District (CCSD), Anita Huggins, has signed the contract to become the district’s next leader, sources tell News 2.

Huggins announced a week ago that she intended to accept an offer for a three-year contract after meeting with members of the district’s Board of Trustees.

It comes roughly two weeks after the board voted 5-4 to authorize CCSD’s counsel to negotiate a three-year contract with Huggins.

News 2 reached out to CCSD Board Chair Keith Grybowski and two other board members Tuesday night to confirm whether huggins signed the contract.  One board member returned our call, she confirmed Grybowski let the board know he did receive the signed contract and will sign it.

The board member said she and other members feel they were left out of the process.

Huggins said prior to signing the contract, she offered to meet with school board members in groups of three to discuss her priorities and answer any questions they may have.
