Dr. Hampton-Mills receives News 2 Cool Teacher award

River Oaks Middle School’s Dr. Andrea Hampton-Mills has transformed her classroom into an engaging learning experience, where students earn incentives. Dr. Hampton-Mills receives our Cool School Teacher Award.

Dr. Andrea Hampton-Mills’ math class at River Oaks Middle School in Dorchester District Two is known as M-Mart, that’s Mills Mart. This is her 33rd year in education. She retired last year and returned after just a month of retirement.

Dr. Hampton-Mills is a math interventionist and gives support to all grade levels. She teaches math through an economic system. Students earn bucks and shop in the class store but also lose bucks if they are not on task. Her class not only teaches math, but life skills as well.
