Teacher assistant accused of assaulting student turned himself in Friday, police say
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A teacher assistant accused of assaulting a student earlier this month at Fort Dorchester High School has been charged with third-degree assault and battery.
Tony Dunlap turned himself in to the North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) on Friday for an incident that happened at the school on Feb. 1.
Police said the following day that the teacher assistant, now known as Dunlap, was under investigation for the alleged assault.
Dunlap was released on a personal recognizance (PR) bond after turning himself in. Harve Jacobs, a spokesman for the agency, said the charge is a municipal offense.
No injuries were reported.
