Downtown deli damaged after car crashes into building early Tuesday morning

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A downtown Charleston deli was damaged early Tuesday morning after a car crashed into the building.

Sgt. Anthony Gibson with the Charleston Police Department (CPD) said two vehicles collided at the intersection of Spring and St. Philip Streets shortly after 2:00 a.m.

The collision resulted in one of the vehicles crashing into the storefront at The Pass on St. Philip Street.

Sgt. Gibson said the vehicle has since been removed from the building. The Charleston Fire Department and the city’s building inspector are assessing the building’s structural integrity.

No major injuries were reported.
