Nikki Haley’s campaign bus tour to make stop on Kiawah Island this weekend

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD)- Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley will return to the Lowcountry this weekend as she tries to build momentum ahead of South Carolina’s GOP primary.

Haley, the former South Carolina governor and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, embarked on her ‘Beast of the Southeast’ bus tour last week. The two-week campaign blitz has Haley crisscrossing the state to encourage voters to support her in the upcoming primary against former President Donald Trump.

She will speak to supporters at Freshfields Village on Kiawah Island on Saturday afternoon. The event is expected to begin at 12:30 p.m.

The campaign also announced stops in Irmo, Fort Mill, and Rock Hill this weekend. Haley’s return to the Palmetto State comes on the heels of several fundraising and campaign events in the Super Tuesday state of Texas.

The presidential hopeful faces an uphill battle in her home state, where a recent Winthrop University poll showed her trailing Trump by 36 points among likely voters with less than 10 days until the primary.

Early voting for the Feb. 24 primary is underway. Voters can find more information here.
