Town council accepts Sullivan’s Island police chief’s resignation

SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – Sullivan’s Island Town Council accepted the resignation of its police chief, Chris Griffin, during a meeting held Tuesday night.

Griffin, who has been on the Sullivan’s Island police force since 1997, was placed on administrative leave at the beginning of the year amid an investigation into a personnel matter.

Town council met Tuesday night to get an update on the chief. During that meeting, officials with the town tell News 2 council members accepted Griffin’s resignation.

Deputy Chief Glenn Meadows oversaw the department while Griffin was on leave. He has since been named police chief.
