Flood advisory issued for downtown Charleston amid heavy rain Wednesday morning
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Drivers in downtown Charleston could see some flooding Wednesday morning as heavy rain moves across the peninsula.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flood advisory for Charleston County until 9:15 a.m. due to excessive rainfall.
“A pocket of heavy rain is heading toward Downtown Charleston and could drop a quick inch of rain. Minor flooding is expected on the Charleston peninsula,” said Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Josh Marthers.
Forecasters with NWS said minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas is possible and some could see the ponding of water in many areas.
Motorists are urged not to drive through flooded roadways.
