Charleston County deputies to conduct driver’s license checkpoints Friday
CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston County deputies will conduct driver’s license checkpoints on Friday.
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) announced Thursday that its traffic enforcement unit will check drivers for their license in at least two locations during the morning and afternoon.
One checkpoint will take place along Patton Avenue on Johns Island from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and another will happen in the Woodside/Woodview Manor subdivision from 12:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
According to state law, drivers caught without their license could face a fine of up to $100 and 30 days in jail for the first offense, and longer for repeat offenses.
Those who have had their license suspended or revoked, and are found in the driver’s seat, may face a $300 fine and up to 30 days in jail. A statute in South Carolina further states that three or more offenses could result in the offender being placed on house arrest.
