JA Moore announces reelection campaign for South Carolina House seat

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD)- State Rep. JA Moore (D) announced Monday that he will seek another term in the South Carolina House.

Moore, a Lowcountry native, has represented District 15 in the House since 2018. The district covers parts of North Charleston in Charleston County and parts of Goose Creek in Berkeley County.

“We need to make ‘Moore Progress’ in 2024,” Moore said. “I’m running for re-election to continue working for the people of House District 15. I promise to keep fighting for women’s rights, public education, and more economic opportunity for people in the Lowcountry.”

During his tenure, Moore has championed bills related to affordable housing, gun reform, reproductive rights, veteran’s rights, and clean water. He also sponsored a bill to provide mental health education in K-12 schools, which was signed into law in 2020.

He currently serves on the House Committee on Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Cyber Crimes, which examines the rapidly growing artificial intelligence (AI) industry and its impact on the Palmetto State.

No other candidates have declared their intent to run for the District 15 seat. The filing period closes on April 1 at noon.
