Dorchester County Sheriff announces upcoming traffic checkpoint

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office announced that it will have an upcoming traffic safety checkpoint.

On Friday afternoon, deputies will be stationed at Highway 78 and School Street in the Ridgeville area.

Officers will check for valid driver’s licenses, possible impairment, proper child restraints, if applicable, and any other visible violations, DCSO said.

The checkpoint is in response to the area’s recent collisions and traffic complaints. Drivers are asked to use caution and remain alert when traveling in the area.
