Some downtown roads closed while crews repair malfunctioning electrical box

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Some downtown roadways are closed Monday afternoon while utility crews repair a malfunctioning electrical box.

Officials with the Charleston Police Department said the faulty box was located near Queen Street and Church Street.

Therefore, Church Street is closed to all traffic between Chalmers Street and Cumberland Street. Queen Street is closed between Church Street and State Street.

Crews with Dominion Energy are responding to make the repairs.

Police say they do not expect major traffic interruptions, but people are asked to avoid the area if possible.
