Suspects fired shots at Goose Creek officer during Saturday traffic stop, officials say
GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities say a Saturday night traffic stop in Goose Creek led to shots fired and a brief vehicle pursuit.
An officer with the Goose Creek Police Department (GCPD) attempted to stop a 2010 Nissan Verse shortly after 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of North Main Street and 2nd Avenue.
Officials say the vehicle had a faulty tag light and disregarded a traffic signal, which was the reason for the initial traffic stop.
Two people were inside the vehicle, according to police. Officials said the suspects fired approximately five shots from their vehicle toward the officer.
A pursuit ensued and came to an end when the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a residence on Mulberry Drive.
Tabitha Lynn Scott was apprehended near the vehicle while police and a K9 tracked and captured Keith Jerome Galloway in the backyard of a nearby home.
Both were taken to the Berkeley County Detention Center.
Officials say arrest warrants were issued for Galloway including failure to stop for blue lights – first offense, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamines – first offense, and possession of controlled substance IV – first office.
Additional charges are forthcoming, police said.
