Great American Cleanup: Volunteers to add plants, clean litter at North Charleston park
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – An effort to ready South Carolina for spring is underway.
Palmetto Pride and Keep South Carolina Beautiful are hosting a beautification project Friday morning at Oak Terrace Preserve Park to kick off the annual Great American Clean-up.
Volunteers will install new plants, landscaping, and clean up the North Charleston park to prepare for upcoming events this spring.
Friday’s event runs from 8:00 a.m. until noon.
Meanwhile, other clean-up events will happen in Walterboro from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The Colleton County High School Junior and Senior National Honor Society will kick off the City of Walterboro and Keep Walterboro Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup for the 3rd year in a row.
Volunteers will meet at the North Lemacks and Colleton Loop before spreading throughout neighborhoods and the city to pick up litter and debris.
Another event is planned for Saturday morning in Berkeley County at the Cross Community Center.
Volunteers will work to collect trash and litter from roads in the Cross community along a four-mile stretch. That event happens between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
