Coroner identifies woman found deceased in bushes Wednesday

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — The Charleston County Coroner released the name of the deceased woman found by North Charleston Police in some bushes Wednesday morning.

Kelly Wingate, 48, was found near the Fairfield Inn and Suites on Tanger Outlet Boulevard. Ms. Wingate died from blunt force injuries.

Police responded to a report of a dead person at the location just before 8 a.m. Wednesday evening, detectives arrested Robert Deantonio Gardner, 42, for the murder of Ms. Wingate.

Gardner was captured on International Boulevard and taken to the Al Canon Detention Center.

The North Charleston Police Department is investigating this case.
