Nikki Haley joining conservative think tank

WASHINGTON (WCBD)- Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is joining the Hudson Institute, a Washington D.C.-based conservative think tank.

Haley, who received the Hudson’s Global Leadership Award in 2018, will serve as the institute’s next Walter P. Stern Chair, the group announced Monday.

“When our policymakers fail to call out our enemies or acknowledge the importance of our alliances, the world is less safe,” Haley said in a statement. “That is why Hudson’s work is so critical.”

Haley’s new role comes just over a month after she suspended her 2024 presidential campaign after failing to garner enough support to overtake former President Donald Trump for the Republican nomination.

In a statement, Hudson President and CEO John P. Walters called Haley a “proven, effective leader” on domestic and foreign policy issues. Haley served as ambassador to the United Nations from 2017 to 2018 under Trump.

“In an era of worldwide political upheaval, she has remained a steadfast defender of freedom and an effective advocate for American security and prosperity,” Walters said. “We are honored to have her join the Hudson team.”

Other notable members of the think tank include former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao.
