Gov. McMaster to speak at Nucor Steel groundbreaking
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Governor Henry McMaster will speak at a groundbreaking ceremony by Nucor Steel Berkeley (NSB) in Huger on Thursday.
NSB says they are introducing a new galvanizing line to support its strategy to expand capabilities and grow participation in the automotive and consumer durables markets.
The $425 million investment will create more than 50 new full-time jobs, and start-up is expected in mid-2025, NSB says.
Officials say the mill produces flat-rolled steel and steel beams used in everyday uses and support structures in bridges and buildings.
Nucor Corporation had invested more than $1 billion in the Berkeley mill since it began production in 1996, generating close to $2 billion in revenue annually, according to reports.
The ceremony is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. at 1455 Hagan Avenue in Huger.
