Dorchester Co. hosts Workforce Signing Day
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Dorchester County Career and Technology Center (DCCTC) is hosting a Workforce Signing Day for high school students.
Officials say there is a labor shortage in the skilled trades industry in the Lowcountry, so a well-trained workforce is critical. To combat this, Dorchester County believes the school is where it starts.
Local High School students will publicly sign letters of intent on Wednesday to pursue careers in the skilled trades while being celebrated by their families, teachers and industry partners.
Industry partners attending include Tupco, Nautical Dimensions, BID Group, Atlantic Electric, Penske, Solomon Family Dentistry, Metro Electric, Paragon Sitework Constructors, and Transworld Electric. Officials say additional businesses are to be determined.
15 Dorchester County students will be signing letters of intent at the Dorchester County Career & Technology Center at 1 p.m. DCCTC is located at 507 Schoolhouse Road.
DCCTC says it offers 18 programs designed to enable students to enter the workforce or pursue a college degree with the advantage of hands-on training and certification.
