Hot temperatures, evening storm risk excepted for Memorial Day

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD)- The Lowcountry is waking up to a hot and humid start to Memorial Day.

Above-average temperatures will set in throughout the day with highs expected in the upper 80s to mid-90s with mostly sunny conditions.

Heat index values, or feels-like temperatures, could reach into the low 100s in some areas, according to Storm Team 2.

The threat of scattered severe storms will increase beginning around 6 p.m. Storm Team 2 meteorologist Grace Lowe said damaging winds, hail, and heavy rain are possible.
