Founder’s Day of Caring: How News 2 is giving back
News 2 and its staff give back to the community in many ways — but one day each year we hit pause on the scripts, step out of the studio, away from the lights, and pick a nonprofit to care for.
It’s part of our parent company’s annual Founder’s Day of Caring. And it’s one of our favorite days of the year. The whole station – from leadership to news, production, marketing and sales – will head out for a day of volunteering.
This year, our team will lend a helping hand to Hoofprints in the Sand. The organization empowers and supports people, including veterans, who suffer from traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorders through equine-assisted therapy.
We’ll roll up our sleeves and help with myriad projects from feeding horses and mucking stalls to general maintenance around the property.
Over the years News 2’s team has supported various causes like projects at the Ronald McDonald House Charleston, a beach cleanup, and volunteered at Hope to Home Furniture Resource.

While we pick a different charity every year, the overall goal is the same – come together as a station to give back as a thank you for trusting and sharing your stories with us.
