Tropical disturbance could form near Bahamas

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Forecasters are keeping an eye on a tropical disturbance in the Atlantic.

A seven-day outlook from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) says an area of low pressure is forecast to form by midweek, a few hundred miles northeast of the central Bahamas.

“Environmental conditions could be conducive for some development of this system thereafter while it moves westward or west-northwestward,” said NHC forecasters.

Formation is not expected within the next 48 hours; however, chances increase to 30% within the next seven days.
