17-year-old fast food employee accused of credit card fraud

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A 17-year-old who worked at a McDonald’s and Dairy Queen on Pawley’s Island is accused of credit card fraud, deputies say.

The juvenile is charged with financial transaction card fraud, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

The minor allegedly took photos of customers’ credit cards while working at the drive-thru window and used the information to make purchases, one of which was made to a children’s clothing store in England.

Investigators say the minor tried to make a purchase at a Domino’s Pizza on Pawley’s Island, but the charge was halted because fraud was suspected.

Currently, detectives are utilizing restaurant video, the suspect’s phone, and other evidence to assist in their investigation.

The suspect was released from custody and is awaiting an initial court appearance.
