Former Fort Dorchester RB accused of attempted murder after shootout

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A former star running back for Fort Dorchester High School was arrested by North Charleston Police last Thursday.

Davian Brown, 18, was arrested on June 13 and charged with two counts of attempted murder, according to jail records. He is currently at the Al Cannon Detention Center, held without bond.

A juvenile suspect was also arrested in connection to this incident. The 17-year-old’s name will not be released.

Police responded to the Tacos Los Primos in North Charleston on June 10 after receiving reports that two vehicles were shooting at each other in the parking lot, an incident report states. The two cars had sped off before the police arrived.

Witnesses told officers that a black SUV and grey sedan fired shots back and forth in front of the Title Max business nearby, saying the passenger of the black SUV shot first, and the occupants in the grey sedan returned fire.

Witnesses said the two vehicles sped off, chasing each other down Rivers Avenue. The officer on the scene was notified one of the individuals may have been shot, so the officer told dispatch to notify nearby hospitals. About 2 minutes later, dispatch said a gunshot wound victim walked into Roper Northwoods.

Police arrived to learn a 17-year-old male was in the shoulder, and an 18-year-old was shot twice in one leg, once in the other leg, once in the shoulder, and once in the elbow, according to the police incident report. The 18-year-old was taken to a different hospital for further treatment.

During the on-scene investigation in the parking lot, police found 21 spent shell casings, one projectile, and one piece of plastic from the black SUV.

The North Charleston Police Department is still investigating this shooting.
