Woman attacked at Georgetown storage facility
GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman was reportedly attacked at a storage unit off Highway 17 near Murrells Inlet.
Deputies responded to the incident Thursday morning around 12:20 a.m.
According to reports the victim met her attacker earlier in the day through mutual friends and he was helping her move things in her storage unit. She left the unit to grab food and when she returned the subject began acting strange.
The woman tried to escape into the storage facility but her attacker stopped her, throwing her onto the ground several times and ultimately pulling out a pocket knife, reports say.
Reports from the victim also said she observed her attacker pushing the surveillance cameras inside the storage facility toward the ceiling amid the attack.
Authorities say the woman eventually escaped and called for help.
The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office has not yet identified or caught the subject.
