Johns Island man arrested on multiple charges of solicitation of minor after online investigation

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A 31-year-old Johns Island man is facing multiple charges connected to the solicitation of a minor.

A member of the South Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force portrayed a 14-year-old female in a proactive, undercover online investigation last July when she encountered Adam Taylor Cossette.

The affidavits say Cossette engaged with the child persona in a sexually explicit conversation, encouraged the user to perform sexual acts, and even planned to meet the child, whom he knew was only 14.

In one instance, affidavits say Cossette offered the child persona money for sexual acts and said he would pay for an Uber ride to his home.

Cossette was arrested by Charleston County deputies on Friday after they executed a search warrant on his Valley Oak Road home.

Officials with the sheriff’s office said he admitted to the conversations and actions during the search.

Cossette is charged with three counts of criminal solicitation of a minor, one count of first-degree attempted sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of attempted promoting prostitution of a minor.

He was given a personal recognizance (PR) bond for $25,000.
