Heat advisory in place with hot temperatures expected again Tuesday afternoon
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Making outdoor plans? Expect another hot and humid day across the Lowcountry.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston has issued a heat advisory for those peak daytime hours, specifically for Charleston County, coastal Colleton County, and tidal Berkeley County from noon until 6 p.m.
Heat index values up to 110 degrees can be expected for much of southeast South Carolina, according to NWS forecasters.
Those heat index values reached 104 at Charleston International Airport at noon on Monday while heat indices were 106 at Mount Pleasant Regional Airport and 108 at Charleston Executive Airport during the same period.
Forecasters want that hot temperatures and high humidity can cause heat-related illnesses. If you plan on being outside, it is recommended to schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned spaces, drink plenty of water, and wear light loose-fitting clothing.
