1 dead, 5 injured in Dorchester Co. crash

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – One person has died following a crash that injured five people in Dorchester County.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the collision occurred on June 17 around 5:45 p.m. on Highway 17 A, five miles south of Summerville.

A 2020 Toyota Sedan with four occupants was traveling on U.S. 17 A when a 2010 Jeep SUV crossed the center of the road and struck them head-on, troopers say.

All passengers in the Toyota were injured and transported by EMS.

Both occupants in the Jeep were injured and transported to the hospital where the driver later died.

The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the victim.
