Moncks Corner man charged with multiple felonies after traffic stop

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – A Moncks Corner man has been charged with multiple felonies after a traffic stop led deputies to a significant amount of narcotics.

Christopher Brian Shiflet, 50, has been arrested and charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Manufacturing a Scheduled Narcotic, Trafficking Cocaine, Trafficking Fentanyl, and Manufacturing a Cocaine Base.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were patrolling the area of South Live Oak when they observed a vehicle being operated with an obstructed tag.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver, later identified as Shiflet, appeared immediately nervous with the deputies and “very jittery”

Officials say the deputy asked for permission to search the vehicle and Shiflet denied consent.

K9 Odin and his handler responded to the traffic stop and conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle.

Deputies say they seized the following from the traffic stop:

  • Approximately 120.42 grams of Methamphetamine
  • Approximately 14.75 grams of Fentanyl
  • Approximately 33.82 grams of Cocaine
  • Approximately 881 grams of Crack
  • 22 dosage units of Alprazolam

Shiftlet was booked into the Hill-Finklea Detention Center.
