Tropical disturbance could bring showers and thunderstorms through the weekend
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A tropical disturbance with a low risk of development will increase rain chances across the Lowcountry over the next few days.
Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Josh Marthers said we could expect a mix of sun and clouds on Thursday with an isolated shower or thunderstorm. He said while it will be hot, it will be less humid.
“Tropical moisture begins to make a comeback late Thursday through Saturday with more clouds, higher humidity, and an increasing risk of showers and thunderstorms,” said Marthers.
Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center (NHC) are monitoring an area of low pressure (or tropical disturbance) off the southeastern coast.
They said the environment does not appear favorable for development over the next day or so before it moves into the southeast by the weekend; however, heavy rainfall will be possible along the South Carolina coast through the weekend.
NHC gives the system a low 10% chance of formation through 48 hours.
