Charleston County detectives still seeking leads more than 20 years after deadly Hess Mart robbery
CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – It has been more than 20 years since Franklin Glenn Caddell was killed in what authorities believed to be a robbery at a Charleston County convenience store.
Detectives are still looking for the person responsible.
It was the early morning hours of July 16, 2002, when deputies from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to the Hess Mart at the corner of Ashley Phosphate Road and Stall Road and found the store clerk dead inside.
Detectives believe Caddell, 48, was stabbed during a robbery and noted that the cash register had been tampered with.
Surveillance video showed an individual in disguise, but no facial features or identifying marks could be seen in the footage.
While investigators said they have followed many leads in the case, no one has been arrested for Caddell’s death.
They ask anyone with information to contact Detective Barry Goldstein at 843-554-2241 or email [email protected].
