Walterboro man arrested for fatal playground shooting in downtown Charleston
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston Police announced Monday they have arrested a suspect for a fatal shooting near a downtown playground in June.
Lymik Nyshawn Pierce, 26, of Walterboro, was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
Pierce is booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center and is awaiting a bond hearing.
Officers responded to the community park on South Street after 11 a.m. June 10 for a shots fired call. When they arrived, they found 25-year-old David Williams suffering from a gunshot wound.
Williams was pronounced dead on the scene. At the time, police said they did not think any children were on the playground when the shooting occurred.
