Summer camp held for young entrepreneurs

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Children now have the opportunity to attend a summer camp that is dedicated to teaching them about business and entrepreneurial strategies.

Camp Wanza, was named after the youngest member of the Emanuel Tragedy, Twanza Sanders, and inspired by his entrepreneurial spirit and his dedication to education.

“They learn the fundamentals of starting a business, being competitive in their industry, creating a profit/loss statement, creating marketing materials, giving back, etc,” says the camp’s website.

Camp Wanza is a two-week camp, children 10-18 will be provided a Chromebook to use during camp sessions, lunch, snacks and instructional materials.

Camp Wanza officials say that on the last day of camp, each participant presents their business idea in a shark tank-type panel, where they will receive feedback, advice, and even a chance to earn seed money towards starting their business.

The camp will be held at Second Presbyterian Church at 342 Meeting Street in Charleston.

Camp Wanza will be held July 29 – Aug 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also Aug 2 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
