Weekend drive-by shooting in Pepperhill community left woman injured

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are investigating a Sunday morning drive-by shooting that left a woman injured.

Officers with the North Charleston Police Department and Charleston County deputies responded to a home off Midwood Drive just before 3:00 a.m. after receiving reports of a person who had been shot.

One of the responding officers said in an incident report that they heard 40-55 gunshots in the Pepperhill community while patrolling the area of Ashley Phosphate Road and Peppermill Parkway.

At the scene, the officer said they entered the home and found “numerous distraught subjects” in the living room and a 22-year-old woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Charleston County deputies applied two tourniquets to the woman before she was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition is unknown.

No arrests have been made.
