When God Says Wait: Navigating Life’s Waiting Seasons With Faith
Believing in God is easy when things are going well, and everything has happened as promised. But what happens when things aren’t going as planned? What happens between the promise and when it’s fulfilled?
Have you lost hope and faith in God during times of delay? Do you still believe God can do more than you can see? I encourage you to keep believing. Rest assured that God has not forgotten his promises to you or lied about them. His Word reveals two important things about his promises:
- “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him, the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.”- 2 Corinthians 1:20. In this letter, Paul’s message to the church of Corinth is a powerful declaration emphasizing how God’s promises to you are always a resounding “YES.” God will never go back on the promises He made to you. While people may let us down repeatedly, God does not operate in the same way as humans.
- “God is not human, so he does not lie. He is not a human, so he does not change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” – Numbers 23:19. God’s promises are true, even though they may not always align with what we can see with our natural eyes. He is capable of doing the unimaginable. What man cannot do, God can. God is all-powerful, mighty, and more than capable. He created you and knows what is best for you and when.
Most of the time, we are not being delayed from receiving God’s promises but rather prepared for what was promised. God’s promises are for a specific season, which means there is a set time for God to manifest His promises to you. Why? Because the due season is in God’s perfect will. He knows what we are and are not yet ready for. We must have the character to sustain the promises of God. We can ask God for success, but have we grown in humility, integrity, and wisdom to maintain godly success? God gets glory when our lives reflect Him and point others to Him. The promises God desires to manifest in your life will bring Him glory; there are some things that ONLY GOD can do. Those who see will be a witness to this fact.

Remember that in times of delay, it may feel like God is saying “no,” but in reality, it may just mean “not now.” God is asking us to trust Him and have faith that what He has planned for us is so wonderful that it’s worth waiting for. He knows that if we were to receive what we’ve been promised right away, we may need more time to handle it. Remember that God’s intentions for us are always good, and He has plans to bring us hope and a promising future. So, if you’re feeling delayed in things you are waiting for the Lord to fix, change, and handle, it’s important to remember that it’s not a punishment but a part of a larger purpose.
Trust in the Lord and lean not to your own understanding. You may not understand what you are experiencing now, but trust the Lord and don’t submit to your intellect.
Waiting on God can be difficult, as it’s much easier to take matters into our own hands. If you’ve tried to do this, you probably know that waiting on God is better. Remember, to whom much is given, much is required. Waiting will be worth it. Ultimately, you can look back and thank God for the delay. This waiting period will encourage and strengthen you to keep your faith in God. Just remember that great blessings require more tremendous patience and time. Let God work on you during this time so you will be fully prepared to handle all that He’s promised to do.
