Georgetown man who shot victim multiple times sentenced for manslaughter

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCBD) – A man who shot into a car multiple times, killing one, following an altercation was sentenced for manslaughter Monday, according to the solicitor’s office.

44-year-old Robert Justin Britt pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and unlawful possession of a weapon by a person convicted of a violent felony.

Circuit Court Judge Alex Hyman sentenced Britt to 15 years for the charges.

In September of 2021, Britt shot several times into a vehicle, killing its passenger, Raekwon Grant, 26. Britt also aimed for the vehicle driver, Jamil Wade, who was 18 at the time.

Britt’s sentence will be served concurrently with his current sentences. He is serving six years in prison for grand larceny and 15 years for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, which is running consecutively, the 15th Circuit’s Solicitor’s Office said.
