Car dealership owner arrested on fraud charges in Georgetown County

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — A Murrells Inlet car dealership owner was arrested after a two-month-long multi-agency investigation, the sheriff’s office says.

Donna Kester Ivey was charged with seven counts of failure to remit vehicle titles and two felony charges of writing fraudulent checks worth over $5,000.

According to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, she owns Auto Cars of Murrells Inlet.

The State Law Enforcement Division, 15thSolicitor’s Office Investigations Division, and SC Department of Motor Vehicles assisted in the investigation alongside the sheriff’s office.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities ask anyone who thinks or has information on being defrauded by Auto Cars to call (843) 546-5102.
