Berkeley County to unveil community resource hub for rural residents
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce is set to reveal the third Berkey County Resource Hub on Friday to improve connectivity in rural areas.
The resource hub will open with an Agency Expo at the Alvin Recreation Center to showcase the service agencies and non-profits to the hubs. The unveiling is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
County officials say this is part of a broader plan to establish five centers to enhance connectivity in rural areas. The hubs will offer two years of free Wi-Fi, telehealth services, wellness resources, and job and educational training opportunities.
The centers will also have printers, webcams, desks, chairs, and eight Google Chromebooks for residents.
During the unveiling state elected officials are expected to make special announcements.
The resource hub is located at 2191 Santee River Rd in St. Stephen.
