Man who was shot will be charged for Mount Pleasant road rage shooting, police say

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Mount Pleasant Police say they will charge a man injured in a road rage shooting on 6 Mile Road for the incident.

Andrew Scott Chalson was determined to be the main aggressor in the situation. Sgt. Ashley Croy, spokesperson for Mount Pleasant police, said Chalson will be charged with assault and battery when he is released from doctor’s care.

On Aug. 15, police responded to the intersection of 6 Mile Road and Rifle Range Road around 8:27 p.m. for a report of an altercation that led to a shooting.

Authorities arrived to find a black SUV and gray motorcycle in the roadway and a group of individuals comforting a man, identified as Chalson, suffering from a gunshot wound. The good Samaritans were holding a blue rag to Chalson’s lower left torso, according to an incident report from police.

Witnesses at the scene said the bullet went straight through Chalson’s lower back, the report states. Another man who was holding a rag to his face was detained on the scene.

Charleston County EMS arrived shortly after and took Chalson to a local hospital.
