Report: 4 Dead, Approximately 30 injured in Apalachee High School Shooting

Four people are believed to have been killed and approximately 30 more were injured in the shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia earlier today.

It is unclear how many of the injuries are from gunshot wounds, according to law enforcement sources.

A suspect, who is of student age, is In custody, but it’s unclear if the person actually attend the school, according to sources.

UPDATE: as of 11:54AM

According to Fox News, a major incident at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, led to a hard lockdown earlier today. School officials received reports of gunfire, which triggered the lockdown.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, and SkyFOX 5 footage showed them treating individuals on school grounds. At least two people are known to be airlifted to hospitals for treatment.

Barrow County law enforcement was out in full force, with dozens of officers on-site to secure the area. Shortly before 11:30 a.m., the school announced that the campus had been cleared and that students were being released to their families. Parents are allowed to pick up their children directly from the school, and buses are running as normal for students needing transportation home.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the situation, and the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office will be providing updates on their official Facebook page. The school has promised to share more information as it becomes available.

Shooting @ Apalachee High School in Barrow County @ 10:23 AM this morning. The high school is about an hour from ATL.

NBC News is reporting two were killed and four others were injured. One victim was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital.

One suspect in custody. FBI & GBI on scene.
